The STMS NP provides the base knowledge for working in various road environments. This learning block is for people who intend to be working as:

• a Traffic Operations Manager
• a TTM Planner, TMP Approver, TTM Auditor, Traffic Management Coordinator or Corridor Manager

STMS NP assessments are sat progressively during the workshop.

The assessment for the STMS NP is Unit Standard 31962 and is completed as a one-day workshop.

Topics include:

• Deliver site safety briefings and inductions
• Calculate layout distances
• Set up, maintain and remove TTM for static operations (shoulder closures, two-way two-lane closures and multi-lane closures)
• Complete mobile operations and closures
• Set up, maintain and remove TTM for semi-static operations and closures
• Conduct special activities

Workshop includes:

• STMS NP Handbook
• Assessment material
• Morning tea, Lunch and Afternoon tea
• A certificate is provided as proof of completion
• Reporting of Unit Standard 31962

Recommended Prerequisite:

For a new STMS it is recommended that the Unit Standard 31961 is sat prior to the Unit Standard 31962 as this provides the necessary background information.

Additional on-job coaching and a practical assessment by a TTM Assessor is required to be a practising STMS.
